What’s new, March 2023

FLOCK HILL
Ahipara, New Zealand

News from Ahipara in New Zealand is the opening of Flock Hill, a homestead set in 36,000 acres of pristine high country. The views of Craigieburn Valley are staggering. We’re particularly excited about their new chef Craig Martin: the founder of Ahipara confidently calls him the finest hunting/gathering indigenous chef in NZ today.

GIDDY FOR AMERICANO
Banyan, India

Jamshyd, founder of Banyan Tours in India, has a beautiful new website and is currently laying down plans for a new trek in Ladakh this summer. Besides that, he’s giddy for Americano, a restaurant in Mumbai that’s recently gone from “good to great”. The most in-demand tables in town will be reserved for Banyan guests on the last day of their trip.

NEW OPENINGS
Galavanta, Colombia

Over in Colombia, Galavanta is excited about Agua Baru and 16-room Casa Pestagua (Relais & Châteaux), two new hotels making waves on the Caribbean coast. The latter – a heritage property in old-town Cartagena – comes from the team behind Casa San Agustin, so you can expect a gorgeous restoration. An amazing restaurant and bar, too.

NEW CULINARY EXPERIENCE
Enigma, Peru

Did you know that some varieties of potato contain 10 times more antioxidants than blueberries? Or that there are more than 4,000 varieties in the Andes?

Enigma, our DMC in Peru, is offering a brilliant new culinary experience: The World of the Andean Potato and Tuber, led by legendary chef Manuel Choqque. Guests can learn about his efforts to preserve ancient varieties, get hands-on in the agricultural process, cook and then try miskioca, the world’s only potato wine.
