I’ll never forget sharing a bottle with Jean-Michel from Ahipara at his home in New Zealand. Besides it being an elegant, fresh and fruity wine, it has a brilliant back story: the original winemaker Grant Taylor was the first non-French person to win the prize for Best Pinot Noir at the London International Wine Fair.
Since then, he and co-winemaker Jenn Parr have won the award a further three times. Quite the achievement for a small family-owned business.
